CILPA and Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Convene High-Level Symposium on the International Court of Justice

The Center for International Law and Policy in Africa, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, will convene a high-level symposium on “The Role and Contributions of the International Court of Justice to the Peaceful Settlement of Disputes in Africa.”

The symposium will take place on Wednesday, 2 September 2026, from 09:00 to 12:00 GMT, at the Auditorium, Foreign Service Academy, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Sierra Leone, with online participation available via Zoom. The event will bring together senior government officials, legal scholars, practitioners and international law experts for a focused discussion on the International Court of Justice and its contribution to dispute settlement, peace and legal development in Africa.

Distinguished speakers include H.E. Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, Vice President of the Republic of Sierra Leone; Hon. Mohamed Rahman Swarray, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation; Hon. Alpha Sesay, Attorney General and Minister of Justice; Hon. Chernor Bah, Minister of Information; and Prof. Dr. Charles Chernor Jalloh, Founder and Executive Director of CILPA and Member and Special Rapporteur of the UN International Law Commission.
